If I Were to Buy a New Camera In 2025, This Is What I'd Pick
đ Hey everyone!
So youâre diving into photography - exciting, right? But the first speed bump hits fast: which camera to get?
The options are endless, and before you know it, youâre deep in a rabbit hole of specs, reviews, and recommendations.
Uncle Joe says one thing, your favorite YouTuber (me? đ) another, and youâre stuck wondering whoâs right?
Donât stress my friend. Iâve been there, and after almost a decade in photography, hereâs the advice I wish someone had told me when I started.
Letâs dive in. đď¸
đą Start Simple - Even With Your Phone
Believe it or not, your phoneâs camera is incredible. Many of my Instagram shots are taken with my phone, and they look amazing.
But I get it - you want something more serious. Maybe youâre dreaming of changing lenses and stepping up your creative game.
So letâs talk about that.
đ¸ Does Gear Matter? Yes⌠and No
Photographers love gear. Itâs shiny, exciting, and filled with promise.
But hereâs the catch: gear doesnât make the artist. (I know crazy)
Learning the basics of photography - light, composition, and timing - is far more important. You canât shortcut that with a fancy camera.
That said, your gear should match your needs. Ask yourself:
What kind of photos will I take? Portraits, landscapes, street shots, or wildlife?
What do my friends use? Sharing lenses and tips can be a game changer.
đĄ Hereâs the Real Secret
Every major brand - Canon, Sony, Nikon, Fuji - makes great cameras. Entry-level models today have specs that pros could only dream about a decade ago.
The key? Pick a camera you can afford, that feels good in your hands, and start shooting.
Master your camera. Learn everything about it. Practice relentlessly.
Because in the end, itâs not the camera that takes great photos - itâs you.
đŻ The Bottom Line: My Honest Advice
I know this might not have been the answer you were looking for, and people really want others to just tell them what camera to buy.
But this is what I truly believe - it doesnât matter what camera you pick.
However, if you really press me, and I had to pick a model, then I personally would advise you to go with a Sony a6300 or a6400.
Those cameras are great, beginner-friendly, and can be found for a good price on the second-hand market.
Lastly, one thing I remind myself from time to time is this: I would much rather buy a cheap camera and an expensive lens than the other way around.
