5 Drone Tips that make EVERY PHOTO POP
Hey everyone!
This week, let’s dive into one of my favorite topics - taking better drone photos.
Whether you’re soaring over mountains, fields, or just your backyard, these tricks will help you capture amazing shots every time.
Here are 5 easy tips to level up your drone photos - and trust me, the last one is a real game-changer. 👇️
📸 Shoot in RAW for Full Editing Control
This is a must. Shooting in RAW gives you way more control in editing - you can recover details from shadows and highlights far better than with JPEGs.
More details means more epic photos! (most of the time)
📐 The Secret to Perfect Composition
Use your drone's grid overlay - especially the rule of thirds.
Aligning your subject along these lines makes your composition instantly stronger.
I use this all the time to (hopefully) nail the perfect frame.
🔆 Keep the ISO Low
In good light, stick to a low ISO. Most consumer drones struggle with high ISO, which leads to ugly noise.
Keeping the ISO low keeps your shots clean and polished (which often means more professional-looking photos!).
📊 Capture Every Detail with AEB
Auto Exposure Bracketing (AEB) takes multiple shots at different exposures - perfect for scenes with both bright skies and dark ground.
Blend them later for an HDR shot, or just use the best one.
I do this all the time to make sure I get at least one well-exposed photo, and the option for a super HQ HDR image. 🔥
🌄 Create Jaw-Dropping Panoramas
Want more detail? Take multiple shots and stitch them together into a panorama using Photoshop.
This gives you stunning resolution across a wide area.
Pro tip: If your drone can’t shoot vertical shots, take two horizontal photos - one slightly up, one slightly down - and stitch them together for an awesome vertical frame, perfect for Instagram! 😎
So there you have it - 5 easy ways to improve your drone photography. Start using them on your next flight, and let me know how it goes!
And hey, I promised a "game-changer" tip, and here it is: Practice. 😂
Seriously, the more you fly, the better you get. It’s that simple.
Until next Sunday!
Best,
Arnulfur
